Linda leaves a legacy for families

Linda McDonald.
For over a decade, our HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) program in Emerton has helped families build strong foundations for learning and development. Since 2014, this two-year program has guided parents to support their child’s learning, confidence, and social skills, while strengthening parent–child bonds.
“HIPPY supports parents as their child’s first teacher,” said Linda McDonald, a First Nations woman and HIPPY Coordinator, who retires tomorrow after more than 10 years of dedicated service.
We warmly thank Linda for her outstanding contribution to families and the wider Western Sydney community.
From 2026, HIPPY in Emerton will transition to Ngroo Education, a respected local Aboriginal community-controlled organisation. Catholic Care will continue supporting families, working closely with Ngroo Education and HIPPY Australia, so the program remains strong, culturally aligned, and carries forward Linda’s legacy of care.
