Family Day Care.
Baulkham Hills Family Day Care, a service run by Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, launched a new and exciting program to foster the connection of children to Country and Aboriginal culture.
The Flying Carpet play sessions combine hybrid learning and mobile play into one unforgettable experience for children.
Through elements including an Acknowledgement of Country, Dreamtime stories, First Nations-inspired music and instruments, as well as art and craft; the group sessions support a stronger connection to Country, its stories and people.
The program also provides follow-up activities to support continued learning, which can be shared among the families of the children who participate.
Since its launch in May 2024, the Flying Carpet program has been implemented across the majority of Family Day Care locations.
Educator, parental/carer and child feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and there are plans for the program’s growth in 2025.
